Aloud hosts Fundraising Dinner

News

On the 15th December 2022, The Aloud Charity hosted our third Aloud Fundraising dinner.

The event took place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and saw over 90 guests come together for an evening of entertainment and fundraising to secure the future of the Charity’s activities to transform the lives of young people from across Wales.

The event included a raffle with a host of exclusive prizes generously donated by the Celtic Manor, Mari Thomas Jewellery, Melin Tregwynt, The Bay Tree Cowbridge, Only Men Aloud, The Goodwash Company, Penderyn Distillery, and Studio Viva Ladies Fitness. Penylan Pantry and The Welsh Cheese Company also generously donated items for goodie bags!

We hosted a Silent Auction where guests could bid for the opportunities to join our OBA Academi on their annual residential course in July 2023 and a visit to the Old Castle Hotel in Llandeilo home to contemporary designer, jeweller, and goldsmith Mari Thomas’s gallery. We were delighted to welcome members of our Only Boys Aloud Youth Forum who supported us to run the evening.

The event provided us with an opportunity to showcase our Only Girls Aloud and Only Kids Aloud choirs who entertained guests with performances of a range of repertoire including It Means Beautiful, African Noel, and Nadolig Gwyn. Guests joined forces with the choirs to perform a rousing rendition of Hark the Herald.

The Fundraising dinner marked the choirs’ final performance opportunity of 2022 following a busy and varied programme of events throughout the year.

We were delighted that Only Boys Aloud Alumni George Curnow and James Sillman joined the event to entertain guests over the course of the evening. They were accompanied by pianist David Doidge.

“The dinner is our opportunity to showcase the work of the charity to our most loyal supporters, providing a chance to raise much needed funds for our work in the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. The evening gave us time to connect with old and new friends, work with Welsh suppliers as well as providing a fun and relaxed evening for those wishing to celebrate together while supporting our work. We are truly grateful to the Hodge Foundation as well as our other supporters for making this event a success this year.” Carys Wynne-Morgan, Chief Executive

Our Fundraising Dinner is an important event in the Aloud calendar where we aim to raise as much as we can to support the continued delivery of our Aloud Choirs across Wales. We are delighted to announce that thanks to the generosity of our guests we raised more than £20,000 over the course of the evening.

The Aloud Charity would like to thank the Hodge Foundation for their generous donation towards the evening.
