Young people are at the heart of decision making at The Aloud Charity.
Our Youth Forum provides Only Boys Aloud choir members with the opportunity to input into all aspects of activity and a platform to share their opinions and suggestions on the development of the charity.
The Youth Forum consists of representatives from our Only Boys Aloud choirs across Wales who meet once a term to discuss matters that are important to them.
Our Youth Forum played an active role in the development of our new Vision, Mission, Values, and Aims which underpin our strategic plan.
Young people’s voices inform the repertoire we learn in rehearsals and where we seek performance opportunities. This included our Flash mob performance as part of the 2022 Gŵyl Cymru World Cup celebrations.
Youth Forum feedback informs The Aloud Charity Board’s decision making. This was demonstrated when young people’s voices informed our choir branding going forwards.
Youth Forum members also support the charity with ideas and the delivery of social media and fundraising campaigns as well as acting as ambassadors at key events such as our fundraising dinner.
Being a member of the Youth Forum increases members’ confidence, improves their listening and communication skills, and gives young people a sense of pride in their choir. Previous Youth Forum members have gone on to pursue roles within the Senedd Youth Parliament and as the Youth Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil.
G7 Youth Summit
In Spring 2021, our OBA Forum Members were proud to take part in the G7 Youth Summit. Below is a short video which was presented at the event, which highlights global issues most important to them.
