Like everyone else, we were captivated by Welsh of The West End‘s incredible first audition on Britain’s Got Talent over the weekend. For us at The Aloud Charity, it was an extra special moment as there were some very familiar faces on screen…
Tom Hier
Tom was in the very first Only Boys Aloud choir back in 2010 and is now a successful West End performer and part of Only Men Aloud. Unbelievably, he was part of the choir when Only Boys Aloud came third on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 – ten years ago! We couldn’t be prouder seeing him back on the BGT once again, this time with Welsh of The West End. Tom will also be performing a solo on our new Aloud album which is currently being finalised. Watch Tom perform with OBA during lockdown here.
Steffan Rhys Hughes
Steffan is the founder of Welsh of The West End and over lockdown entertained the nation by uploading regular renditions of hit musical theatre tracks onto YouTube. Steffan was also an Aloud Choir Leader for 5 years and taught many OBA cohorts! Watch Steffan and Tom Hier perform a beautiful duet together here.
Sophie Evans
Sophie Evans is an extremely talented singer and peformer from the Rhondda Valley. Only Boys Aloud were luckily enough to get a chance to perform with her virtually over lockdown. Watch the video here. Sophie will also be performing a solo on our upcoming album, which we are very excited about!
It’s hard to believe that 10 years has passed since our first Britain’s Got Talent audition. Ten years on, our audition has been watched over 31 million times on YouTube. We are so proud of all that we have achieved over these years, and our 10th Anniversary gala concerts will be a perfect way to celebrate our achievements. Have you got your ticket yet? You can buy yours here.
We wish Welsh of The West End the very best on their Britain’s Got Talent journey, reminding us all that Wales truly is the Land of Song! Good luck!
