Wales 1000 as part of the Cardiff Festival of Voice was my first event with the North and South Only Boys Aloud joining up as one large group, and it was one of the best experiences ever! We left Rhyl at 7 am, but the early alarm was worth it! We stayed at the Urdd Centre at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. We went to Saint David’s Hall, for the technical rehearsal and everyone was getting excited. After food in Amser restaurant, it was time for the performance! We took our places on the stage, and the seats were filling up. The weeks and weeks of rehearsing, and finally, the time had arrived for the performance! We sang Calon Lan, Men of Harlech, Gwinllan a Rhoddwyd i’m Gofal, Sosban Fach and the first performance of ‘In Musico Modulamine’ written by Karl Jenkins. With Only Boys Aloud North and South, the Academi, Côr Godre’r Aran, Côr Meibion Pontarddulais and Côr Undebol ar ôl Tri, the sound was fantastic and the orchestra, Sinfonia Cymru, were outstanding! The whole performance was utterly brilliant, and it was a memorable day, and I enjoyed every second of it!
