Our Covid-19 Response

News

Like the rest of the world, The Aloud Charity has been impacted by the pandemic, and we have had to make some changes to the way we work.

We have been working hard to ensure that we maintain contact with our hundreds of participants across Wales, and have been delivering virtual rehearsals since the start of April, which has had a really positive response. We have over 150 boys joining in with their rehearsal groups from across Wales each week, led by their regular Choir Leaders and supported by Aloud staff and our volunteer Community Leaders.

We are very aware that now, more than ever really, these young people need support, need some semblance of normality, they need their friends and mentors and they need creative outlets. We hope the activity we are managing to deliver is going some way to provide for their needs.

We are very proud of our wonderful video OBA Calon Lân in Lockdown, and ‘The Prayer’, sung by our wonderful OBA Academi. If you haven’t had a chance to see these yet, visit our Facebook and YouTube pages, or look here:

We also have some rather brilliant footage of our Choir Leaders hosting vocal and physical warm-ups for virtual rehearsals – right here:

We watch constantly as changes to lockdown rules happen and we are planning our Autumn term activity carefully with every eventuality in mind. We look forward to the time we can all get together again, in the same room, and sing!

“I’ve just seen a smile on [my son’s] face and a little twinkle in his eye that I’ve not seen for quite a few weeks as I told him about virtual rehearsals!! He’s absolutely thrilled! I think this is just what he needed to hear today. OBA has really enhanced his life and this morning it became really obvious how much he misses it. So once again a really big THANK YOU.”

“The virtual rehearsals are great, I’m really enjoying it. It’s great to see and sing with my friends and still learn the tracks just like in normal rehearsals. It’s the next best thing!”

A huge thank you to our friends, funders and supporters from around the world who have helped us through this difficult time. Knowing you are by our side gives us the confidence and determination to come out of this pandemic with more passion and ambition than ever before.

We hope you are all safe and well. If you’d like any more information about The Aloud Charity and our recent activity, please get in touch.
