ONLY KIDS ALOUD 2018 MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME!

News

On the 12th and 13th of May 2018, our Only Kids Aloud 2018 Chorus met for the very first time for their first rehearsal at the Urdd Centre, Cardiff Bay. Take a look at what they got up to!

My name is Mack, I am 11 years old. I live in Aberystwyth and love to sing and perform. I was super excited when I heard that Only Kids Aloud auditions were coming to Aberystwyth, as I had heard of them and Only Boys Aloud.

I practiced my audition song over and over and was happy to see a couple of friends I knew at the audition. I was really pleased to see a couple of boys too, as there are always more girls. I was nervous but the panel were really friendly and I enjoyed it. When my mum got the email that I got in the chorus, I jumped on the spot and ran to tell my choir teacher in school.

The first residential weekend came really quick, I have been to the Urdd centre before and knew it was great – especially the food. There were lots of people there when we arrived but the chaperones helped me relax. The next two days went so quick, Tim was full of energy and we had to keep up! It was great – I met lots of new friends, sang some of my favourite songs and learnt secret new ones as well.

I was sad to be going home, but was so tired I fell asleep on the way home which made my mum laugh as apparently I never usually stop for anything.

I met one new friend called Tomos who lives in Brecon, we got on really well and played pool together in the evening. We really wanted to meet up again so convinced our mums to help us. Tomos came from Brecon the following weekend and joined me and my friends on the beach in Aberystwyth as it was really sunny. He now has lots of friends in Aberystwyth too.

I am soooo looking forward to the next residential, I am busy practising my songs so I don’t let Tim and the Only Kids Aloud team down and can’t wait to hear where our final performance will be!
