New Partnership with The Bluestone Foundation

The Aloud Charity is delighted to announce that new Only Boys Aloud choirs will start rehearsing in West Wales.

Thanks to project support from partnerships with the Bluestone Foundation and the Arts Council of Wales, The Aloud Charity is able to offer free, weekly choir rehearsals to boys and young men living in the West Wales region. With no audition and no fee to join, the door is open to any boy between 11-19 years old from any background and ability, from experienced singers to those that have never sung before.

Only Boys Aloud was founded in 2010 and provides life-changing experiences to teenagers, helping raise aspiration, self-esteem and confidence. Now 11 years old, with more than 200 members attending choirs across South and North Wales, The Aloud Charity will establish new choirs in Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, as well as develop existing provision in Carmarthenshire.

West Wales OBA Project Manager Elin Llwyd commented:

“I can’t wait to get this project up and running and expand Aloud’s OBA provision to West Wales. It’s such an exciting opportunity for young men in Pembrokeshire Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire and I urge anyone that’s interested to register their interest now!

Please email [email protected]. Rehearsals will start in the first week after half term (November 1st) so don’t hesitate to get in touch! I have been fortunate enough to witness, first hand, the positive effect that being part of a choir can have on young people’s lives. And at a time when mental health and well-being are at the forefront of our minds, music and singing can play an integral role in encouraging the development of expressive, open and liberated individuals among this generation of young men.”

Pamela McNamara, Founder of the Bluestone Foundation said:

“The Bluestone Foundation was established to ‘help people to help themselves’ through environmental, economic, and social projects in Pembrokeshire; and we’re pleased to be supporting the Aloud Charity in its inspirational work  in our local community bringing young boys together as a team to enjoy the health & wellbeing benefits of music through singing.”
