Soaring growth in Only Boys Aloud membership after September recruitment boost!

September was a busy month of  Only Boys Aloud recruitment at Aloud!

Our committed team of Choir Leaders delivered 32 workshops in schools across Wales where we gave pupils a taste of what being a member of an Only Boys Aloud choir is all about!

As part of the workshops, pupils took part in a range of warm up games and activities before learning some songs in 2 or 3 part harmony. Our Choir Leaders were on hand to answer any questions pupils had about what being an Only Boys Aloud choir member is like with many of our Choir Leaders being past members! We also shared footage of some of the unique performance opportunities that our choir members have been involved in as inspiration!

Thank you so much to Only Boys Aloud for delivery an amazing workshop with our pupils. All of the boys involved were amazing and even sang in 3-part harmony!

Following these workshops we’re delighted that in the last month alone we have increased our Only Boys Aloud choir membership by 30%!

This was the first year since the Covid-19 pandemic that we have been able to deliver a full schedule of recruitment sessions in schools and it was great to meet pupils from across Wales and see their enthusiasm to take part! The Covid-19 pandemic has had a range of negative impacts for young people’s well-being with confidence levels low and opportunities to socialise with new people reduced during periods of isolation. With growing bodies of research highlighting the benefits of singing in a choir involvement in Only Boys Aloud will provide our new members with far more than singing alone.

It has been fantastic to welcome new members to our weekly choir rehearsals across Wales and we’re looking forward to delivering even more recruitment sessions and building on the success of the last month.

We have a range of exciting performance opportunities coming up for our choir members and are always welcoming new members to our groups.
