On Saturday 2nd of June, nearly 100 of our boys from all across Wales had the amazing and exciting opportunity of supporting Alfie Boe at his special Homecoming Concert at Highbury Stadium, Fleetwood. The boys had never performed in Lancashire before and many of them had never performed in a stadium before either. Nearly 9,000 people were in the audience and luckily the weather stayed dry!!
The south boys had a particularly early start of 7.30am and after a long bus journey, they were relieved to get to Fleetwood. Who was one of the first person they met? None other than Alfie Boe himself! He had come especially over to the backstage area to speak to the boys and was kind enough to pose for (lots of!) selfies!
After a soundcheck, a bite to eat and changing into their OBA uniforms, the boys started queuing up in their lines. They walked out on to the stage to a sea of people and huge applause and started their half an hour set. It was amazing to watch people singing along and there were even a few Welsh flags flying in the audience!
After their performance it was time to leave because it was Alfie Boe himself on stage next. Time for the long bus journey home…and a burger at the Services, of course!
