2017 SO FAR…

Performances

It’s the end of the school year and the beginning of the summer break for our boys. As we say farewell to a few of our boys who will be leaving OBA to go on to university in September, it’s a time for us to reflect on the year so far and what an incredible year it’s been so far! Here’s a round up of the events and projects that the boys have been involved in. Don’t forget to check out our Gallery for photos of what the boys have been up to!

January – Performing at Venue Cymru, Llandudno in ‘Take pART’.

February – Performing at the ‘School of Hard Knocks Wales’ launch at the Senedd, Cardiff Bay.

March – Performing at Principality Building Society’s Awards evening.

March – Performing at the Wales HR Awards.

February and March – Local fundraising concerts organised by the boys to raise money for our tour to Ypres in November 2017.

March/April – Rehearsing and recording a brand new Welsh language opera ‘2117 – Hedd Wyn’ with National Youth Opera and Welsh National Opera Orchestra.

May – Songwriting workshops in Merthyr with Grammy award winning songwriter Amy Wadge.

May – Performing at the opening concert of the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Bridgend.

June – Performing at the UEFA Champions League Festival in Cardiff Bay.

June – Performing at the UEFA Champions League Dinner at Cardiff Castle.

June – Performing at the breaking ground ceremony of the new Wales International Convention Centre at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport.

July – Performing the ‘Peace Message’ at Llangollen International Music Festival. The peace message was composed by our very own Choir Leader, Nia Wyn Jones.

July – our annual Principality Only Boys Aloud Academi held in Atlantic College, Llantwit Major. As well as the 10 day residential course, the boys performed at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Marlborough College, Wiltshire and Wigmore Hall in London.

Let’s hope the boys have a well-deserved rest over the summer, ready for another jam-packed term in the Autumn!
